Sol Diaz-Peña is a Cuban-Mexican-American interdisciplinary artist based in Houston, Texas. Drawing from ancestral Zapotec cosmology, spirit activism, and rasquachismo, their work explores how cultural memory, migration, and gender-variant lineages inform bodies, land, and ritual. Working across photo-based image-making, storytelling, and social practice, Diaz-Peña investigates myth, allegory, and the porous boundary between human and nonhuman worlds. Their practice approaches art-making as a spiritual discipline dedicated to environmental defense and queer survival along borderlands.

Diaz-Peña has presented solo exhibitions at Lawndale Art Center and Houston Community College, and developed the international performance work "Zanate Performance" in Juchitán, Oaxaca with support from Foundation for Contemporary Arts. Their work has been featured in New American Paintings No. 174, and in 2026 they released the photo chapbook “Bi (breath/aliento)”.  Recent recognitions include support from The Idea Fund for the curatorial project "Pesadito", the Edgelands Institute Glitch Lab Fellowship, the Arts and Media award from the Houston Transgender Unity Committee, and residencies at Project Row Houses and Lawndale Arts Center. They are a member of OpenMFA and Sahara Dust Season Artist Collectives.
